Barryville to Pond Eddy | 3-4 hours
Distance: 7 miles
Time: Approximately 3-4 hours

This section of the river is a whitewater destination with several long stretches of quiet pools. It is ideal for rafters of any experience level. Depending on the water level, this section of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River offers Class 1 & 2 rapids. You will hit Cedar and Shohola rapids plus multiple eddies, sets of shallow riffles and go under 1 bridge on this trip. It is the most convenient paddle for our NY campers with ample picnicking spots and great fishing. In this section, paddlers are treated to spectacular views of the swiftly changing river valley, beautiful scenery with lush vegetation, bald eagles, osprey and occasionally whitetail deer.
Pond Eddy to Matamoras | 5-6 hours
Distance: 10 miles
Time: Approximately 5-6 hours

This section of the river is a whitewater destination with stretches of long quiet pools. It is ideal for rafters of any experience level. Depending on the water level, this section of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River offers Class 1 & 2 rapids. You will hit multiple sets of rapids in this section including Staircase rapids, Mongaup rapids and inlet, Butlers Rift rapids and Mill Rift rapids. You will paddle beneath cliffs and spectacular rock formations, through lush vegetation and the dramatic gorge known as the Hawks Nest and go under 2 bridges on this trip. Paddlers appreciate The Upper Delaware’s beauty, wildlife sightings including bald eagles & osprey and high water quality.
Matamoras to River Beach | 3-4 Hours
Distance: 6 miles
Time: Approximately 3-4 hours

This section of the river is a calm water destination, with small sets of rapids and shelving, requiring a small amount of technical paddling. It is ideal for beginners and experienced river-goers, who enjoy paddling the beauty of the Middle Delaware through brief riffles separated by short pools. Below Matamoras, the river corridor starts to change as it turns and widens, on this trip you will pass by historic towns and multiple islands, go under two bridges and notice stunning scenic vistas. Paddle through gorgeous scenery and observe High Point Monument, the highest elevation in New Jersey. The second bridge you will go under marks the point where the boundaries for the states of New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania meet. It is important to stay to the right of the islands in this section. Paddlers of all skill levels appreciate the Middle Delaware’s beauty, wildlife sightings and high water quality. See bald eagles, osprey and the occasional whitetail deer. This is a short, novice level trip that requires some technical paddling.
River Beach to Dingmans | 5-6 hours

Time: Approximately 5-6 hours

This section of river is a calm water destination with few notable rapids. It is ideal for beginners to develop paddling and river reading skills and perfect for the experienced paddler who enjoys the untamed peaceful beauty of the Middle Delaware. It is the most convenient paddle for our River Beach Campsite campers with ample picnicking spots and great fishing. Four miles into this trip you will arrive in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Paddle through forested mountains in long deep pools and brief stretches of shallow riffles with barely a house in sight. Paddlers of all skill levels appreciate the Middle Delaware’s peaceful beauty, wildlife sightings and high water quality. This section offers stunning scenery with lush vegetation and an abundance of wildlife. See bald eagles, osprey and occasionally whitetail deer. This is a long, novice level trip.
